Varanasi : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a detailed review of development projects and law and order during his visit to Varanasi on Thursday. Chairing a high-level meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure timely completion of ongoing infrastructure projects and expedite work by deploying additional manpower, wherever required.
He emphasized that public grievances received through platforms such as Jan Sunwai, IGRS, and the CM Helpline must be addressed impartially and within a fixed timeframe. The Chief Minister instructed that special attention be given to maintaining cleanliness across the city through regular sanitation drives, and directed the Municipal Commissioner to take proactive measures to improve Varanasi’s ranking in the national Swachh Survekshan.
To raise public awareness about the newly introduced building bylaws, CM Yogi asked authorities to use social and digital media, and conduct seminars and outreach campaigns at community levels.
The Chief Minister also issued instructions to begin road widening work in Dalmaundi immediately after the monsoon, and advised that any religious structures falling within the construction area should be respectfully relocated with community consensus and due rituals. He further stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the district.
Addressing public health, CM Yogi directed the Chief Medical Officer to take all necessary steps to declare Varanasi TB-free by November 2025. He also called for active participation of public representatives in the campaign. In the field of education, he instructed the District Basic Education Officer to ensure 100% enrollment of children in government schools, adequate deployment of teachers, and timely distribution of school essentials such as bags, shoes, socks, and uniforms.

As part of the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative, the Chief Minister laid special emphasis on tree plantation and river rejuvenation efforts.
On the law and order front, CM Yogi directed authorities to keep a strict watch on individuals spreading unrest through fake social media accounts, and to take stringent action against those inciting caste-based tensions or disrupting public peace. He stressed enhancing the effectiveness of local intelligence and police beat systems. He also ordered strong enforcement measures against illegal liquor trade and narcotics trafficking, particularly in border areas.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that 64 major projects are currently underway in Varanasi with a combined worth of approximately ₹15,000 crore. Among them, the Kazzakpura Flyover is expected to be completed by September 2025.
The meeting was attended by Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Stamp and Court Fees & Registration Ravindra Jaiswal, along with other public representatives and senior administrative officials.
